This was the first anime that I saw entirely in japanese... so in a way, it was the first anime (aside from the -mons) that i've watched. The story is of Asakura Yoh (Yoh Asakura in the dub), a young shaman (one who speaks with spirits). Early on, Yoh selects Amidamaru, a spirit of samurai warior to be his accompanying spirit. After which they enter the Shaman Fight... a tournament between Shaman to be crowned Shaman King and become a god. Yoh wants to become Shaman King simply to be able to live an easy life... the primary antagonist, Hao, wants to become Shaman King to rid the world of humans, and set up a utopia for shamans The story is quite kiddy however the fights are very good and well thought out. The concept of Shaman King can be seen in a later highly poplar anime, Bleach. It's quite entertaining and fun for anyone.
Rating: 2.5/4

In some recent developments
Fans of the show and the manga know that the ending... well sucked. They were a complete cliffhanger and the conflicts were unresolved. However... this won't be the case be the case for much longer. The Shaman King manga is set to restart chapters soon and the new definitive ending can be expected by 2009
fans REJOICE!!!
