Provided I find the full-blown "Broadway Syndrome" to be far more trouble than it's worth after finishing the pilot version, I've tried to come up with other project ideas. What I really wanted to explore was the fantasy genre- not fantasy in the sense of "swords-and-sorcery", but things that would be impossible in what is otherwise just like the real world (so like "Pleasantville", "Big", "The Lake House").
The story goes like this:
Stephen has just received his schedule in the mail. As he knows he signed up for a regional-occupational course, he is shocked to see that his next class is immediately after the ROP class- and no way can he make 10 miles in 5 minutes!
Towards the end of summer vacation, he asks the district office if he can get his second period cleared up so he has time to drive over to his regular school- that request is denied.
"What do you expect me to do? Fly there?"
-"No, I expect you to walk."
We fast-forward to his first day of school, and Stephen is nervously looking at his watch.
"...either I leave in the middle of a lesson, or I get a huge late notice!"
Some thinking...
...no- really... thinking...
Decision time!
Darting out of the classroom, he frantically runs through the hallway up to where he parked his car. Now, he can see it- it's only steps away from him, until-
FOOM!
He falls over and now he's right next to his second period class. Looking very dumbfounded, he sees around and peers into the room.
Well, whaddya know- it's Mrs. Hattee's Biology class, room B102. Before he has any time to think further, a man appears behind him.
"...don't you still have a class over there to finish up?," he says pointing to the hallway. "Get going!"
...okay, so that's just my prologue, and I haven't even gotten to the "Locker" in the title yet. I already know how I'm going to pull off the teleportation effect (it might be a little bit cheesy, but it conveys the idea just fine). So, comments?
