I have admin powers. That means I CAN and WILL modify posts I consider inappropriate.
On this board, inappropriate defines as several things:
1. Obscenity. I have a curse filter installed on this board, anyway, for the strongest profanities (most of the profanities with a sexual connotation- not all of them, just the really strong ones). Links to sites containing extremely obscene content must come with a warning tagged to it on the post (whether it be in terms of profanity (if it's just one F-word, I'll probably let it slide; however, if it's used frequently, that's where I'll be concerned (and this includes even bleeped F-words)), crude sexual humour or extreme graphic violence (since most flash cartoons online don't present violence that bad (just comical blood), I probably won't ever edit for the last item; really, it's the second one I'm concerned with).
Direct links to pornography (or websites with addresses that look pornographic to me) are absolutely NOT tolerated, even with warning. The warning with a direct link only applies to potentially R-rated material (blood-violent flash animations, pages with strong profanities, sexual dialogue and humor; just use your head here).
And for those of you who want to argue that there's nothing harmful to society about sex, that all the harm is in violence... well, I've got you both covered- links to sites with photographs of real-life death are also banned from this forum.
Again, use your head, and use some common sense.
If you persist in putting direct links to pornography on this forum, I'll ban your account. If you don't have an account, I'll ban your IP. I take this very seriously- I do NOT want my forum to house links to pornographic sites.
As well, keep the names clean, please. If you post with a name that's potentially obscene, I'll delete it without looking at the content of the post.
2. Racism. While several racial slurs are programmed into the board's curse filter, some aren't, for reasons that they're either abbreviations and will cause complications, or that they're also words that can be used in a different context. However, if I catch a racial slur being used that's NOT quoting something (you will need to make it clear that you ARE quoting something), I WILL edit the post accordingly (provided I don't delete it). However, since I haven't seen any racist language going on in this board, this shouldn't be a problem.
3. Flames and Trolls. Now, the number of members is few, but if you randomly go and not only SPAM on a number of topics, but also bashing the people on this board or someone else, those posts will be deleted. There's a reason I'm restricting topic creation to the mods and I.
4. Off-topic Posts. The most frequent offence on this board, and the sole reason I created this topic. Now, I will be on alert even more for off-topic posting. I won't let them slide like I did before, as I saw how chaotic it got. It took some intervention by Skywalker for me to finally decide to create this topic. Just because a topic's dead, or you don't feel like you're getting enough attention, does NOT mean you can turn into an attention whore and spam every single topic on every single board. All that does is make you look like a dumbass, and you will be regarded as such if you do that. There's been a SPAM board where you can post completely off-topic posts.
Members of this board, remember that. It is your DUTY to make the OT spammer feel like a complete dumbass. Tell him off when he does so.
My forum, my rules. I'm really not asking for much here. All I'm asking is to keep on topic.
NEWLY INSERTED (and 3 months overdue):
5. Politics- Due to the fact that political posts tend to cause flame wars (because people on this board DO have differing political views from one-another), proven by the arguments I see in our hangout (which I myself am guilty of), I'm banning them entirely. Posts with political views will be edited.
And, for a little bit of hypocrisy on my part, if you want to start a political debate, I'll end it right here:
Those of you who think these rules violate your 1st Amendment rights, it's just like the rules and regulations of clubs and various institutions- these rules are made to maintain order on these forums.
...and if I don't catch something, the moderators will.
