So this christmas, my parents got me an iPod nano. So within 30 mins of opening it, it's just about half full (this is the 4 GB one). They got me the iPod nano to replace my old Zen.
In case you dont know what a Zen is... the Zen Xtra is the mp3 player by Creative. When i bought this MP3 player, Creative was no where on the map of protable music. At that time, the direct competition to Apple was the iRiver. So i managed to get a 30 GB Creative Zen Xtra. It was excellent and great. The only drawback? It was larger then a gameboy... The Zen isn't exactly 'portable' w/o its case.
So i used the Zen for 2 years. Then one day in november... the player just died on me. It wouldn't charge, it wouldn't restart. Me and my dad tired everything to fix it... but it was already dead...
I was pretty upset... i looked for the warranty... sure enough... it was 1 year limited warranty... (bunch of pirates...). My dad said that he would get me an iPod nano. He did.
so, we've all seen pic of the Nano by now.... it's smaller then in the pic... so small... it's only slightly larger then the iPod Shuffle. but it's got a color screen and EXCELLENT sound quality. Only draw back is that it's REALLY fragile. Do NOT put this player in your pocket, w/o a case. And yes, you can get cases. They're available at Fry's. So yeah.
Btw, now. The iRiver has become smaller (business wise) and Creative is now a direct competitor to the iPod. They've got a competitor to every type of iPod.
iPod orig v. Zen Xtra G1 (non color)
iPod photo v. Zen Xtra G2
iPod video v. Zen Media Station
iPod mini v. Zen Micro G1 (non color)
iPod nano v. Zen Micro G2
iPod shuffle v. Zen MuVo
not to mention that the Zens have gotten excellent reviews. The Zen Xtra's size is now much smaller.
so yeah.
