Currently, I'm working on a "musical score" for some of the scenes. (really, just the final fight scene) Using my keyboard, I'm probably gonna do something with the synth drums.
...one of the many sound-related things I came to love with the "A Better Tomorrow" films.

I have a title for the BGM that plays throughout the current, posted version of the film. The tune I composed is called-
"The Power of Silence"

Well, I can't wait to hear it. I'm a big fan of movie music.

Yeah, I love movie music, too. But I love "The Power of Silence" even better.

Well, recieved a letter from the film festival folks:
"Dear Filmmaker,
Thank you for submitting your film for consideration for the 48th San Francisco International Film Festival. We appreciate your interest in the Festival and the opportunity to review the film. However, we regret to inform you that the film was not selected for the Festival program this year.
There are a limited number of programming slots in our Festival, and that, combined with a large number of submissions, makes the competition for selection quite stiff. Our selection process is very challenging due to the overall high quality of the works being considered for the Festival, and there are many good and worthy works which we simply are not able to include.
Many thanks again for sending us your film. Best of luck with and your future projects, and we hope you will continue to keep us informed of your endeavors.
Sincerely,
Linda Blackaby Director of Programming"
And that's absolutely fine by me. Besides this being absolutely PREDICTABLE in that we wouldn't get accepted, I'm glad that it didn't.
If you want my honest opinion, this film's a complete piece of shit. There's some vital things to the plot that did NOT get done in the film, and when editing the film, I was NOT happy.
The acting SUCKED. And I mean it SUCKED. Even for an action film like this, it SUCKED. Kevin Johnson was about the best performance in the film, and even with that, over-delivered some of his lines. (while Alex Lin under-delivered most of his)
Overall, the direction of the whole thing; I SHOULD have been REAL rough with the inconsistencies. Quit being such an asshole about everything and MAKE DAMN SURE that it's done properly. I suppose the gun thing could have worked (where he has the gun in the house after the robbery), but what the hell's with the sword at the end? How did THAT come out?
There was also a vital piece of dialogue that Evan did NOT say, and it was vital to the film. Possibly, that would be cleared up in "The Last Fight Movie in the Universe", and if it does, that'll be the one thing I'm pleased with among the other thing's I'm virtually displeased with, with that film and its impact on the franchise's continuity. (it takes an "Alien: Ressurection" angle on my "Alien 3" ending)
The Moviegoer's club was right about the cinematography- I should have come up with a wider variety of angles.
Also, the end of the film's climax, on my big "Greed" ripoff, I should have had some shots of Evan, which would have explained a hell of a lot more. For now, though, I think I'll add a specific sound effect on a Special Edition version.
Actually, if I was going to make a Special Edition, I'd start the whole thing over from scratch.
On the positive side, two things: 1. To think we were able to pull it off with splicing the three films together, and a surrounding plot. 2. The robbery has to be the BEST damn sound mixing job I've EVER done. ...that is, until I fire up the "front three" for "another walk in the park". (I'm mastering the sound mix into 3 monaural wav files- left channel, center channel, and right channel)
For this to compete amongst films 1,000,000 times better than this, and actually be shown amongst them, would be a huge humiliation.
For now, I'm just gonna focus this shitpiece onto the MV arts festival or whatever.
Unless it gets rejected for being too violent. (and by that, I mean it completely in context)
...like the Moviegoers Club's movie was better than this one, though. THEY have some shit to learn, too. Namely:
PACING. That had to have been one of the worst-paced films I've EVER seen, next to "New York, New York". Editing is key, don't fit a whole bunch of montages in with barely anything going on.
Okay, you want to make a music video? Huh? Is that what you want, is to make a f#$!ing music video?
Most of the time, the only reason why you'd enjoy it is for the music. We're hear to watch the f#$!ing VIDEO. Since we're assuming that this is supposed to have a plot, the best of the music videos have something visually going on.
You guys cite Gus van Sant's "Elephant" for being boring because it shows kids walking in hallways in real time.
Well that's just with you and people biking and walking home.
The problem is, you tried to make a 10-minute film (AT BEST) into 24 minutes. (much like Martin Scorsese was trying to make a 90-minute long film into 164 minutes with "New York, New York", and Chris Kentis was trying to make a 44-minute long film into a 79 minutes with "Open Water", which felt longer than most 3-hour films I've viewed) THAT just doesn't work.
Best thing to do with pacing:
First, envision your film with your runtime. Say you're gonna write a 14-minute long film.
Now, write it as a 7-minute long film. If it's paced fine, keep it. If it feels like some vital details are missing, add 'em. But if the pacing sucks, it's time to snip the less important crap.
That's precisely what I did with "another walk in the park"; envisioned it as a 10-minute long film, and wrote a 5-minute one.
Anyway, that's my rant. I don't vote on these films (to vote on my own film would be somewhat biased), but I figure since I've vented, might as well.

Watching it again I was most displeased. Boring. Amateur. Lacking in fun. Kevin's Fight Movie will easily exceed this in quality if continuity is adjusted to it's maximum.

Yes, because I'm simply not an action movie kind of guy.
If the whole film were done in the spirit of "Fight Movie II", I'm sure it would have been wonderful.
My "like" for this film is like David Fincher to "Alien 3"-
You thought the fans hated it!

Just a comment Eric, but I do believe that you forgot the reasons for why "Dudes" (the first one) was not worthy of the film festival. Why was it not included on DMI(Just out of curiosity)? Also let me know If and when there will be a film festival for MV. I might like to have the "Dudes Part Duce" submited. Of course there would probably have to have a slight editation to explain the plot and all, and leave out the first dudes to keep the movie short and sweet (and no possibility for exclusion due to pistol and cleaver).

Hey, Eric I just noticed some thing. Your Quote. I think you should change it to your famous "Idiots are so stupid."

The reason why I didn't mention "Dudes" was because it would be virtually impossible to be accepted anyways, due to its fast subtitles. The subtitle with the word "shit" in it can be bleeped out.
"Dudes: part duce" is more accessible and it was the only film I could find suitable for such a thing.

Chances are, once I get all this crap I gotta do (film-related) finished, I'll start recording my own commentary for this film.
And as I said before, I will have NO special edition of the film. I hated making the film almost as much as I hated watching it.
My personal commentary is mainly to cite film references I have inserted, and my own nicknames for certain shots, origins of certain ideas, plus my own criticism of the film. I'll carefully look over my posts to make sure I mention some relevant things I haven't mentioned before, in this commentary.

Yes. This film DOES suck. (the credits in middle of film was a great sound editing job.) Also posted in animation and Last Fight Movie. Life. A crude substitute for video games.

To fix the sword contineuity error, just do a new shot with me picking up the sword off the desk (COCD angle) and I walk out? Better?
